OSINT Exercise #028

Welcome to OSINT Exercise #028!

Task briefing:
Sometimes the fastest way to geolocate an image is to track down the movements of the person behind the lens. I took the photo below, on 20 September 2023, at 08:11 local time.

Your task is to determine:

a) What device I used to take the photograph.
b) Where I was headed.
c) How far I was from the entrance of my destination.

Bonus challenge: In which hotel did I stay?

Exercise level:
For beginners: a) Medium, b) Easy, c) Medium.
For experts: a) Easy, b) Easy, c) Easy.

User Walkthroughs:

Why is my walkthrough not showing up above?

If you sent me your walkthrough and you do not see it on the list, here are the possible reasons:
• One or more of your answers were incorrect or missing.
• You asked me not to include it on the list, and I’m respecting your wishes.
• You may have sent me an incorrect or incomplete link.
• You linked to a website that tracks who sees your articles (e.g, LinkedIn).
• I suspected AI was heavily involved in the production of your walkthrough.
• I suspected you just wrote a walkthrough based on my video, and not your own work.
• I haven’t had the time to actually read, and add it yet (give me at least a week).
• I forgot about it (doesn’t usually happen, but I’m not flawless).

Why do some walkthroughs have a ⭐ in front of them?

The golden star emojis were introduced on the second year anniversary of OSINT Exercises. I will be adding them to walkthroughts that I feel stand out and deserve extra recognition. You can read more about my reasoning behind the decision in my blog post: “Two Years of OSINT Exercises: The Importance of Community Learning.”
